Popular singer and Ugandan Opposition leader was arrested a few minutes after he was officially certified as the next year’s Presidential Candidate.
The police forcefully dragged him out of his car and whisked him into an unknown destination in a police car before breaking off the windows with a hammer . This is not the first time the popular musician is being arrested after expressing interest for Uganda’s Top job. Most of his rallies have been coupled by excessive police brutallity and military interfearance where they have repeatedly, beaten and detain supporters.
Earlier today this Tuesday morning The Police had thrown some teargas canisters at the National Unity Platform (NUP) supporters in Magere who had formed a procession and attempted to accompany their presidential aspirant, Robert Kyagulanyi, to Kyambogo for nominations.
Patrick Amuriat, another presidential candidate, was also stopped and arrested on his way to present his nomination papers to the electoral body. He was briefly detained but later released.
Bobi wine also known as Robert Kyagulanyi is expected to end President Museveni’s 34 years long reign in power where they will battle it out in next year’s poll scheduled for February next year.
